Arusha National Park sits in northern Tanzania, just a 30-minute drive from Arusha town, with a cool climate thanks to its high altitude-temperatures range from 50°F (10°C) at night to 75°F (24°C) during the day. It's famous for Mount Meru, Africa's fifth-highest peak at 14,977 feet, and the Ngurdoto Crater, often called a mini-Ngorongoro. In the dry winter months (June-October), you can hike Mount Meru's slopes or take a walking safari to spot giraffes and buffaloes, while the rainy December-March season makes the Momella Lakes perfect for canoeing past flamingos and offers quieter trails with lower entry fees.
