Mudumalai National Park sits in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu, India, famous for its dense forests and high density of Asian elephants and Bengal tigers. The climate is tropical, with dry winters (50-75°F or 10-24°C) perfect for jeep safaris along the Moyar River to spot elephants and leopards, while the wet monsoon season (June-September) brings lush greenery and excellent birdwatching opportunities for more than 200 species like the Malabar trogon. If you visit during the dry months from November to February, you can also trek to Theppakadu Elephant Camp to see rescued elephants bathing, and later in the year, you might find cheaper accommodations if you come during the quieter summer months of March to May.
