Geographe Bay, on Western Australia's southwest coast, is famous for its calm turquoise waters and the 1.8-kilometer Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. The climate is Mediterranean, with warm summers around 86°F (30°C) perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and cycling the 30-kilometer coastal path, and mild winters near 61°F (16°C) when you can spot migrating humpback whales or tour the nearby Margaret River wine region. During peak season from December to February, you can dive beneath the jetty to see coral and fish, while the quieter June-to-August months offer cheaper beachfront stays and fewer crowds for kayaking in the sheltered bay.
